Tori is a Senior Forensic Scientist (Forensic Firearms & Toolmark Examiner) in the Firearms & Toolmark Section of the Fort Worth Police Department’s (FWPD) Forensic Crime Lab, where she has worked since November of 2004. She has been a Firearms Examiner since 1999, received Association of Firearms and Toolmark Examiners (AFTE) certification in Firearms Evidence Examination and Identification, and has authored several peer reviewed articles relating to her field of expertise (firearms).
She transitioned on the job at FWPD in January 2007 and had Gender Conformation Surgery in January 2008. Since the beginning of her transition, she has helped others who are considering going through a gender transition. She has done volunteer work for Youth First Texas (YFT), Gender Education Advocacy and Resources (GEAR), and Tarrant County Gay Pride Week Association (TCGPWA), where she helps with the annual parade and picnic. She is on the Board of Directors of Transgender Community of Police and Sheriffs (TCOPS), Fairness Fort Worth (FFW) and sat on the Fort Worth City Manager’s Diversity Task Force, which convened after the Fort Worth Police Department and Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission’s (TABC) raid on the Rainbow Lounge in June of 2009.
Tori is also the Board of Director’s liaison for the male-to-female members of Trans-Cendence, which is a gender support group at Agape Church in Fort Worth. She believes that “ALL people are created equal” and actively advocates for workplace equality, marriage equality, and transgender health benefits.
